PALO SANTO
Ritual for Presence, Clarity & Renewal
Palo Santo has been used for centuries as a sacred tool to cleanse energy, ground the body, and invite clarity.
In The Abi Method™, it is not used to “clear” something away —
but to create space for what wants to emerge.
This ritual can be practiced anytime you feel:
• scattered
• heavy
• emotionally full
• at the edge of a new chapter
• in need of grounding or gentle renewal
HOW TO USE THIS RITUAL
Choose one phase — Ground, Grow, or Glow — depending on what you need most in this moment.
You may also move through all three slowly, like a quiet ceremony.
To arrive in your body
Light the Palo Santo gently.
Let the flame catch, then blow it out so the smoke rises softly.
Hold the stick near your heart.
Take 3 slow breaths:
• Inhale through the nose
• Exhale through the mouth
Bring the smoke toward your chest, your belly, your feet.
Intention (silently or out loud):
“I arrive. I am safe in my body.”
Pause.
Feel your weight.
Let the nervous system settle.
GROUND
GROW
To release and realign
Walk slowly through your space, allowing the smoke to move through corners, doorways, and windows.
As you do, breathe naturally.
Reflection prompt:
What am I ready to release right now?
(A thought, a tension, an expectation, a story.)
Intention:
“I let go of what no longer supports me.”
There is no need to force anything.
Release happens through presence.
To invite clarity and renewal
Return to stillness.
Bring the Palo Santo near your face — not too close — and close your eyes.
Take one final deep breath.
Intention:
“I invite clarity, softness, and light.”
Imagine your inner space clearing, not emptying — but warming.
This is where glow begins:
not from effort, but from alignment.
GLOW
Place the Palo Santo in a fire-safe dish and let it extinguish naturally.
Drink a sip of warm tea or water.
Touch your heart or your belly.
Carry this feeling with you.
A NOTE FROM ABI
Rituals do not need to be long to be powerful.
What matters is how you show up — not how much you do.
Use this Palo Santo as a pause.
A threshold.
A reminder that you can return to yourself — anytime.
CLOSING RITUAL
HOW TO LIGHT PALO SANTO
Palo Santo is not incense — it behaves differently, and that’s normal.
To light:
Hold one end of the stick over a flame for 20–30 seconds.
Let the wood catch gently.
Blow out the flame and allow the smoke to rise naturally.
You only need a small amount of smoke for the ritual.
IS IT NORMAL IF IT STOPS SMOKING?
Yes — completely normal.
Palo Santo often:
• smokes for 30 seconds to a few minutes
• goes out on its own
• needs to be re-lit during the ritual
This does not mean it isn’t working.
Palo Santo is about subtlety, not continuous smoke.
Relight as often as you need — gently, without force.
A GENTLE REMINDER
More smoke does not mean more effect.
The ritual works through:
• intention
• breath
• presence
The smoke is simply a sensory anchor — a reminder to slow down.
If your Palo Santo produces very little smoke, trust that this is enough.
SAFETY NOTES
Always:
• Use a fire-safe dish
• Keep away from drafts
• Let it extinguish naturally
